WANTED: Digital / Network Forensic Practitioners in the Akron / Canton Area
Defiance College has a student from the Canton area who is looking for an internship opportunity in mid-March, so that the bulk of effort could be accomplished during an extended Spring Break.
It has been our experience that both the student and the host agency benefits greatly from this process. If you are interested in working with this student or know of someone who might be, please contact me directly (419-783-2460 This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Defiance College students in the Digital Forensic Science major are required to gain experience in the field during their senior year. This Field Experience (which we loosely call an “internship”) allows a student to observe professionals at work and to apply his/her own forensics skills for a minimum of 120 hours. Objectives include, but are not limited to:
- Gain a basic exposure to an agency involved in digital and/or network forensics
- Experience the investigation of high-tech crimes through observation and participation
- Develop an appreciation for complex real-world problems
- Assist in forensic duties such as evidence collection, tool validation, and research on new tools, techniques, vulnerabilities and exploits
- Assist in agency research projects such as exploration of new tools, techniques, vulnerabilities and exploits, or to determine how to better use existing tools
There is no expectation of paying the student for the internship. Some agencies do, but that is to satisfy their internal procedures and does not affect the curriculum requirement.
